It is most important in games where those traits cannot easily be changed later, though modern titles often provide items and systems that reduce the need for breeding. The goal is not simply to create perfect numbers; it is to match the Pokémon to a specific moveset and format. Before breeding, decide the team role and check legality. For casual play, competitive breeding is optional and should not prevent you from enjoying the game.
