A wallbreaker is an offensive Pokémon designed to deal heavy damage to bulky defensive opponents. It often uses high base power, strong boosting items, mixed coverage, or abilities that make switching difficult. A sweeper is more focused on cleaning up weakened teams, often using high Speed or setup boosts. One Pokémon can sometimes do both jobs, but the roles are different: wallbreakers create openings, while sweepers finish games. Wallbreakers may be slower and easier to revenge knock out, so they often need pivot support. When building a team, pair them with teammates that benefit after defensive checks have been weakened.
