Damage is based on several factors rather than only a move’s listed power. Important inputs include the attacker’s level, the move’s base power, the relevant attacking and defending stats, STAB, type effectiveness, critical hits, weather, items, Abilities, terrain, screens, and a random damage factor. Because of this, a weaker move can sometimes deal more damage than a stronger move when it receives STAB or hits a weakness. Damage calculators are useful for competitive play, but always select the correct generation and battle format. Small rule changes between games can produce different results.
