A shiny Pokémon is a rare color variant of a species. In most games, shininess is cosmetic and does not automatically give better stats, moves, or battle power. Shiny odds depend on the game and can sometimes be improved by items, chains, outbreaks, breeding methods, charms, or special events. A shiny Pokémon can still have poor IVs, an unwanted Nature, or a normal Ability unless other mechanics are used. When hunting shinies, learn the specific game’s encounter rules and prepare enough Poké Balls, healing items, and a safe way to weaken targets without knocking them out.
