A battle format is the set of rules governing a match. It may define singles or doubles battles, team size, level scaling, allowed Pokémon, banned moves or items, special mechanics, timers, and clauses. The same Pokémon can be excellent in one format and weak in another because turn structure and legal options change. For example, doubles places more value on spread moves, redirection, speed control, and partner support. When asking for strategy advice, state the game, generation, format, and whether you play casually or competitively. Without that context, a recommendation may be inaccurate or unusable.
